I’ve been teaching calligraphy for several years and absolutely love helping others discover the joy and calm that comes from putting pen to paper. Is this course suitable for complete beginners?
This course is best for those who already know the basics of brush calligraphy – if you’ve learned your strokes and letterforms and now want to build confidence, refine your style, and explore flourishing and layout, this is the perfect next step.
Is the course suitable for left-handed calligraphers?
Yes! Brush calligraphy works beautifully for lefties. You might need to slightly adjust your paper angle or grip, but the tools and techniques are just as effective.
Will I receive feedback on my work?
While the course itself is not live-taught, there’s a private Facebook community where you can ask questions, share your work, and connect with others. It’s a great place for feedback, support, and inspiration.
How is brush calligraphy different from other types of calligraphy?
This course focuses on using brush pens, which create contrast through pressure. While it won’t cover traditional dip pen calligraphy, many of the skills you’ll learn are transferable.
What tools will I need?
You’ll just need a few brush pens, smooth paper, a pencil, and an eraser. You’ll find a full list of recommended supplies inside the course.
Is the course live or on a schedule?
It’s completely self-paced. You’ll have lifetime access to all lessons and materials, so you can work through everything in your own time and revisit whenever you like.
I’m not based in the UK – can I join?
Absolutely! This is an online course and available worldwide. You can learn from anywhere, and many of my students are based outside the UK too.
